La Vie en Pause

During the first lockdown I wrote alternative lyrics to Edith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose,” an ironic love song for the corona virus, or a battle song for us all. To encourage and give hope to everyone who is suffering from the corona crisis, I made a little video of myself singing the song while comping on the piano. I posted this video on March 22nd 2020.

On May 17th 2020 I organised a balcony concert in my street. 11 musicians (Sam Comerford, Alain Pierre, Barbara Wiernik, Elie Rabinovitch, Catherine Graindorge, Elisabeth Klinck, Frédéric Becker, Lucy Grauman, Simon Ho, Aurélie Hennebert and I) and 3 dancers (Fatu Traoré, Julia Färber and Angela Rabaglio) took part in this half an hour performance. This project was supported by the council of St Gilles and filmed by ZinTV. Here is the video of the event. The password is Volders.

And during the second lockdown the song got a sequel! It was recorded by Ricciotti Ensemble and Dutch singer and actress Ellen ten Damme, and for the occasion arranged by Konrad Koselleck.

And for the video of the Ellen ten Damme version we did some magic on my balcony. Bloopers included!
Rose manipulated by flatmate and circus artist Bert Vanden Berghe and filmed by neighbour and director Stéphane Manzone.
