This documentary about the often fragile status of artists, was made during the first lockdown. Some of the footage has been filmed during the balcony concert at avenue Jean Volders.
“They are musicians, dancers, photographers, actors, authors. With the closure of cultural venues and the cancellation of festivals, many find themselves in dire financial straits. Aid has been made available, but it seems very low given the precariousness and instability in which some artists live. This pandemic brings to light the uberization of culture and the precariousness of the artist’s status. A statute, which isn’t really one in Belgium, and which needs urgent reform. Pierre Schonbrodt set out to meet confined but motivated artists, sometimes despised but always inspired. A cry of alarm. A cry of despair. But a cry of hope too.”
